93GrandPRIX
I just joined this site because I was looking for preformance parts for my 1993 Grand Prix SE. I've looked every where on the net and I havent found a thing. Does anyone out there know where I can purchase some Grand Prix preformance parts on-line? Thanks
Redfox340
Welcome aboard! What are you looking for? Acceleration? Handling? I'm assuming you may have the 3.1L MPFI pushrod correct? Or the 3.4L DOHC? Let us know, the specific you are the better we can help you out! - Erik
93GrandPRIX
You are correct. I have a stock 3.1L V6. I'm looking for power. Maybe higher RMP and defiently more horsepower. Everything is stock on my car. I almost bought a '77 Camaro because I was fed up with not being able to find car parts for my car. So could ya'all help me out please? Thank you
Redfox340
So could ya'all help me out please? Not a problem... there have been many discussions to find power. Here's the list: Pushrod (2.8L / 3.1L / 3100) Performance Parts List. There are more tweaks and the like, but those above are the majors' currently. Us domestics V6 owners have to be a little more creative to find power. Best of luck, feel free to post any questions. - Erik
93GrandPRIX
Thank you. Do you know anywhere I could purchase a turbo charger or new cylinder heads or headers or a bigger cam? Thank you
Redfox340
Thank you. Do you know anywhere I could purchase a turbo charger or new cylinder heads or headers or a bigger cam? * Turbocharger = you can snag one anywhere from a speed shop; the hard part is installing and making it work with the ECM and fabricating / locating parts to complete the project. * Heads = any engine shop for a price. Also check eBay and the local yards to find cores to remanufactor. * Headers = no company make commerical headers for the 2.8L / 3.1L; people hear have been experimenting and trying to create good flowing headers without losing severe low-end torque and gaining higher horsepower. Search around the forum, there's been some recent postings. * Camshafts = again, engine shop, CompCams, etc. - Erik
93GrandPRIX
How do I know what turbo charger to pick? I mean...will any turbo fit my car? What about a supercharger? Thank you much
93GrandPRIX
And also...do you know of any other parts that will give me better preformance? Thank you
Redfox340
How do I know what turbo charger to pick? I mean...will any turbo fit my car? What about a supercharger?Thank you much There's a book out on turbocharger flow dynamics, but I can't remember it at the moment... Not all turbos will work; so members have pulled this off but don't recall the specs. Search for turbo conversions on 3.1L's and you'll come up with a general idea. As for a supercharger, RSM Racing makes one but it's a little pricy. Plus, if you talk with many on this forum, they've had problems with RSM's customer service. So beware... - Erik
Redfox340
And also...do you know of any other parts that will give me better preformance? Thank you The companies listed above in the list are some of the best the market offers. Everyone I've spoken with loves their FFP Memcal chip and the UD pulley. Like everyone, you're looking for the best bang for the buck, and those guys above nailed it. - Erik
93GrandPRIX
Thank you very much. Do you know of any web sites that will sell turbochargers or superchargers for a 93 Grand Prix 3.1L V6? Thank you
GrandPrix34
Thank you very much. Do you know of any web sites that will sell turbochargers or superchargers for a 93 Grand Prix 3.1L V6?Thank you Umm.....why dont you read everything frmo the top again? Welcome aboard man...its gonna take ALOT of creativity and ALOT of patience if you want serious HP. Let me make this brief...if you are looking to find alot of aftermarket parts and simple bolt ons to give you more HP then i suggest you sell your Prix and buy a FORD MUSTANG...shit load of aftermarket there plus everyone and their brother has one so you will never be missing a part If you are NOT trying to be original and go the custom/long route as many peeps on these boards are, then i seriously suggest you DO NOT buy anything, or spend any money on the PRix unless you are serious enough. Redfox340
Thank you very much. Do you know of any web sites that will sell turbochargers or superchargers for a 93 Grand Prix 3.1L V6? Umm.....why dont you read everything frmo the top again? Kits or just the unit? Kits are hard to come by and, again, only RSM has the supercharger kit. As for turbochargers, ...once you know the size you want, search around town or on the web. Remember, you'll need to piece it together from scratch; hard, but can be done. Or, like everyone else, find a 3.1L Turbo motor from a wrecked GP STE ot TGP and swap powertrains. - Erik
J
be differet like my car, and like one other (that is done). I'd say try to turbo it rather than supercharge, the 89-90 TGP's can be your inspiration and you can model it after them. later Jay
