The Interior of my 1990 Pontiac McLaren Turbo Grand Prix

The TGP has a typical top-of-the-line style interior for a car of its age, most noticeable, the QUAD bucket seats! Yep, just like my Cutlass Supreme, my TGP also has rear bucket seats and a rear center console! It's very cool, I love it.

Unfortunately, the front seats in my TGP are worn, the driver's seat very much so. That typically happens to a leather interior that has been neglected. The rear seats are in mint condition! I will have to get my front seats reupholstered sometime.

My TGP has, of course, the factory moonroof and also a HUD (Head Up Display). The HUD projects a digital speedometer, turn signal indicators, a low fuel indicator, and "CHECK GAUGES" indicator onto the windshield! The HUD is based on aircraft type HUD systems, and was developed by Hughes Electronics for GM (GM owns Hughes). The HUD was supposed to have a special HUD-specific windshield, however, I don't think my TGP still has this windshield because the one on it now has exactly the same numbers as the one on my girlfriend's Olds. However, it is still visible during the day. Only in direct sunlight does it get washed out and hard to see. In the evening and nighttime especially, it gets very bright and is quite a unique sight to see. After driving the car around and using primarily the HUD, I wonder how I lived without it for so long!

In the center console, is another cool device that is standard on TGP. It's a Driver Info Computer that displays Instantaneous Fuel Economy, Average Fuel Economy, Range (in miles left till empty), and the computer also keeps track of scheduled maintennance. It normally displays a calendar, and also has a clock. Most cool, is the electronic compass display that always shows what direction the car is pointing!
