tloftus Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 Hey guys, is there any "cheap" way to lower this beast a little? It sure rides pretty high, that gap between the tire and the wheel well is just sickening. http://www.tom-loftus.com/cutlass.shtml -T Quote
KING JOKER Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 the cheapest way to go is to wait till the shocks and struts are shot it gives the w-body just the right ride height Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 JESUS that thing sits high!! I suggest loading the car with dumbells and going fast over train tracks... 8) Quote
tloftus Posted August 13, 2004 Author Report Posted August 13, 2004 lol, thanks. I just changed the back struts and put the leaf spring bushings in, so that didn't help at all. I was just wondering if anyone knew any tricks. Tom Quote
tloftus Posted August 13, 2004 Author Report Posted August 13, 2004 Jesus! Yours is way worse than mine! You have smaller tires on though it looks like. -T Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 Get some bigger wheels maybe.. ? I put my 16" crosslace wheels up next to my 15" on my '88 and they are several inches taller.. Quote
rudefyet Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 Jesus! Yours is way worse than mine! You have smaller tires on though it looks like. -T it's mainly the way my driveway is...it's got some potholes in it the tires are the factory size Quote
EurosportZ34 Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 Hell yeah those cars are high....geesh! Not sure how to make it lower easily, but once I got my new tires on my Z it filled up the wheel well alot more...so yeah I'd say get new tires maybe. Quote
cutlsp Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 nice shiny cutlass mind if i borrow it for a few years Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 That's about how tall mine was, although I think my 225/60R16 tires filled out the wheel wells better. I had to put ST springs in the front and a Flex-A-Form rear leaf in the rear to bring my car down. Now the front end looks normal and the rear end is still 1.25" too tall compared to the front. Lowering springs made my car look like a normal car where it looked like a 4x4 before. It still needs dropped 2" more than it is now to even look lowered. Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 My '88 sat like that until it got later in its life (past 175,000 miles) then it settled down. For some reason the 94 I have now sits SOOO much nicer Quote
