EurosportZ34
OK, I'm not sure what's going on here but yesterday and today I noticed that my RPMs are sparatically jumping on my 3.4 DOHC. With my foot off the accelerator the RPMs will raise and fall between 250 and 500 RPMs. What do you think the problem could be? The car idles normally at 750 RPM, but sometimes the RPMs will drop to 500 RPM or as high as 1200 RPM. This is wierd cause it's never done this before. :? Robby1870
IAC is my guess
dalejr
Kinda dont understand the circumstances but if its just at idle then you have a classic intake leak. Drives the IAC nuts. Replace upper and lower intake gaskets .

EurosportZ34
Hmm... starting to sound like my car.... Good luck Brad. Thanks! I just love my Z34 lately. I got that RPM problem and I also need a new AC compressor, and I now have an oil leak again. All these freakin' problems at once. Almost makes me wanna get a new car...almost. midnight rider
We've got a 93 skylark at work with 3.3l V6. It does the same thing. Its gotta be the most annoying problem in the world.
EurosportZ34
IAC is my guess OK, so where is the Idle Air Control IAC located so that I can clean to mo fo?
manitcor
oil leak and idle problem? its either your intake or head gaskets man fixing this will most likely fix your oil leak
Robby1870
IAC is my guess OK, so where is the Idle Air Control IAC located so that I can clean to mo fo? on a Z? Should be around the TB. There should be two sensors on the TB, the TPS and the IAC. The IAC is a big black round thing, that will stick out about 3in from the side of the TB. Should be a couple of scews holding it on. Take those off, and clean it. There's a spring in there, clean that, but whatever you do, DO NOT move the spring at all in any direction.
