musthavemuzk Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 i am contemplating this upgrade on my 90 cutlass. i currently have the 14" steel wheels. will the 14" steel wheels fit over the 94+ conversion? or will i have to get new wheels first? Monty Quote
musthavemuzk Posted August 10, 2004 Author Report Posted August 10, 2004 i know i need 16" wheels. preferably the 5spoke or the international ones. but will my 14's fit over the upgrade? Monty Quote
cutlsp Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 answer is no why do you think all the newer ones with better brakes have 16s? Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Some '94-up cars have 15" Steelies....but I'd get some 16's anyway!!! Quote

cutlsp Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 its cause i tried to do it to my black cutlass and my 14 inch alloys wouldn't fit so i have to wait with it  Quote

GnatGoSplat Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 15" is minimum with the 94+ rear brakes (and 96 front brakes). Yes, you will also need a new spare. Quote
White93z34 Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 one junkyard i fequent has a prety nice set of international rims, he usualy wants $50 a pop for rims, so i can check them out for you Quote
musthavemuzk Posted August 12, 2004 Author Report Posted August 12, 2004 the spare tire is something i did not even think about thanx much for that info there is someone on MNCGP who has the stock torque wheels from his GP. would be interested in them but not sure on how they would look on my cutlass. would prefer the international or 5 spoke from a cutlass though. this might have to wait as i started buying computer parts for a rebuild. thanx for the info guys Monty Quote

Monty Monty, keep in mind that your current donut spare will no longer fit with the newer brakes! So, What are we supposed to do about the spare when we need one, if we have the 94+ brake upgrade? Guest TurboSedan Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 get a '94 spare...its got a 16" rim (NO KIDDING!!!) i found out the hard way and blew a rear tire about 70 miles from home. i actually put the '88-'93 smaller donut spare on and drove home the wheel was grinding against the caliper the whole way home, but it didn't do any damage. definately not recommended heh.
