The timing gear on the cam is made of a silly ass fiber.. They snap after several thousand, and the engine is lobotomized. FYI, only the older (82-88 for sure, not sure about 80-81) Dukes had the nylon timing gears. They switched over to an actual honest-to-goodness timing chain set on the Dukes in 89. Quote
