tloftus
Hey all, I'm still working on getting this 3.1 89 Cutty's kinks worked out so here's the latest. After changing the ignition module (wasn't the problem) and the crankshaft position sensor (the problem) it starts / drives fine. The problem is it stalls out when coming to a stop with the car in drive. The tach goes up and down a few times a hundred RPM then it kills. Not a rough kill, just dies. It idles fine in park / neutral. But if you put it in drive and idle it doesn't stay running very long. This one's got me stumped. No SES light or codes stored. I thought about that idle relearn process as I did have my battery disconnected to change the ignition module and CPS. I've never had to relearn my idle before, but I don't know what else to point my finger at. Any ideas? Thanks, Tom

tloftus
Is this the method you used? http://www.60degreev6.com/index.php?p=pages&pid=74 Reset ECM by pulling ECM fuse (underhood) for a few seconds. With A/C turned off, start car and immediately put it in Drive with your foot on the brake. If the car does not start initially, keep trying WITHOUT putting your foot on the accelerator. Let the car idle in gear for at least 5 and no more than 7 minutes. Shut off the car for 10 seconds. Start engine, place in drive and let idle for 5 minutes. SHut off engine. Idle is learned. 91cutty
It scared the hell out of me first time that happened. I was just about ready to start pulling sensors 'till I found out about the idle re-learn. THANK YOU W-BODY.COM!!!
