Baddflash
Since I swapped the 282 in I've had a problem about a half dozen times that really concerns me. Sometimes when I put the car in reverse and start to let the clutch out there's nothing, then suddenly it'll slam into reverse. (at that point the clutch is 1/3 way engaged) My fear is that there is play in the transmission bearings out whatever that is allowing the shaft to move causing this condition, does that sound about right? If this isn't fixed immediately will the tranny grenade itself at some point? Any help is appreciated. Thanks,
Guest Gp crazy
Well, I had a problem with reverse also! I can't go into reverse until I go into any forward gears first then reverse is fine? your problem will possible be the reverse shaft that has SLOP in it or a bushing has gone bad Not good news at all also change fluid if it looks NASTY (metal flakes, black or gray, really thick) & see if this helps! make sure you use GM Stuff it's the only way to go it 9-10 bucks a bottle! Also check your linkages + cables for BINDING! I had this problem on hard take off from lights and found that my mounts were bad. Also I found my brackets that hold cables got bent then cracked due to mount's being bad. You may want to find another one :x But that will not be easy by any means unless you have a j/y that has a few first gen. GP with 5 speed's around. i hope i have helped some jeff b
