Manny Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 Ok, what’s the correct way to clean the carbon out of an EGR valve on a 3.4L? I took the bottom plate off, removed the gaskets and the pintle valves, I used throttle & intake cleaner and a scraper to remove the carbon from the bottom plate, and I sprayed cleaner into where the pintle valves recess. When I decelerate from highway speed, my EGR still throws a code 32. :cuss: Any other time, no code. Did I miss something? Should I have lubed where the pintle valves recess into the EGR with WD40 or something? (no I didn’t mix the pintle valves up, I’ve already had the plenium off, and my EGR passage is clean, and I checked my EGR tube coming from the exhaust manifold, blows straight through.) Quote
gp90se Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 sounds 2 me like ya EGR is shot, Going 2 have to change it (PM me, I think I have a an extra if ya interested). theres a gasket in the EGR that can go bad and leak, which would throw the code. -Jeff Quote
