Heza
(sick people, i know what you were thinking)...to pull the LQ1 out of the engine bay? i would like to know because i think when either my alternator dies or timing belt goes i am going to pull the motor and change a lot of stuff and fix power steering hose, reaccomplish the oil pump drive, and misc seals. dykz34
Pulling the engine is FAR more work than changing that stuff.

patgizz
pulling the engine is alot easier than changing the alternator, to me anyway.
dykz34
If you have access to a lift or hoist, then it can be fairly easy... I just can't envision it being THAT easy.
manitcor
pulling any w-engine doesnt take that long, espicallsy with air tools a hoist and a lift. About 2 hours, maybe a bit more because you have to struggle with those huge DOHC heads
Heza
Dave...you sure know how to mess with a man's hopes. Anyway...I do have a hoist, and I even have an engine stand. An assload of tools and plenty of patience. I figured it would be nice to have it out and clean/fix the high pressure hose for steering and change seals on the engine itself. Aaron
2 hours It will take fuckign 2 hours to get the alternator unplugged btw, much easier to chaneg that stuff rather than pull it. With an auto, it will be much harder to pull the engine and tranny attached, and just try pulling those 2 apart while they are in the car.... Damn, I'm glad I dont have a DOHC but with all your mods youre still not near the performance of the LQ1 with your 3400. sometimes sacrifices can be made. Canada
I'll bet he is making an EASY 30 hp over stock.......if not closer to 35.....espessically with those headers (they make 18 alone). A 15.9 isn't to far off from a stock LQ1 auto......even with his slightly taller gearing.

A 15.9 isn't to far off from a stock LQ1 auto......even with his slightly taller gearing. Ive got tuning problems (wont go into the list we all have them from time to time) plus I honetly suck at driving the car is capable of more the driver needs to work on his dumb ass  . Now of course a DOHC guy will come back and say "yeah sure how do you know". I have a friendruns consistent 15.6's with stock 3400 manifolds, pulley, intake and exhaust. Granted the DOHC starts out with more power and im not saying the 3400 is superior in that aspect stock for stock however when it comes to maintainability, realibility and an easy to work on engine I would say that the 35 less hp the 3400 has is worth it. And FYI I stomped an LQ1 at the track this weekend
