Guest Gp crazy
Well, I got in to my GP on Monday & drove to work. I got to work & noticed that it wouldn't let me shift into 4th while in motion. But stopped it was fine. On the way home I noticed a little vibration in the front end at 65 mph worse in the rain. Then I noticed the wheel was not strait at all. So I looked under the car but in the dark you can't see at all! so I went to my moms and jacked up the front a little bit & noticed the exhaust pipe was broken & the cradle bolt on the drivers side was not attached to anything washer & all the rubber pieces were gone except one. So I drove to a dealer and they ran the VIN and said it was on a recall. But the recall was so old they would have to call GM? does this sound right? Also there was a tail light switch recall what happens if it was never fixed? thanks jeff  not happy with GM right now they should have thought of this in there design stage :x

I've called them repeatedly with no luck, and my front driver's side cradle bolt is broken now. I have tried drilling it out, with no luck. Guest Gp crazy
UPDATE: 8-3-04 :x They will not fix it :x They found ROTTEN subframe under the rubber bushing on the driver side. But those two burn out marks on the lot looked like my marks that I would leave on dry pavement they were not to worried then Back to fixing it how hard is it? I know it's not easy  Also the guy said that he would replace the FRONT bolts only once I got subframe Replaced. But you know what I would put new bolts in the first time 8) will a newer GP sub frame fit like 200x or is that to WIDE? i would like an aluminum one? if IM going to do this i would like a lighter one dammit! also i stopped in on a TGP unsure of the year the woman would not let me even look at it but she said she wanted $10,000 because it was a turbo. i have seen turbo go for a lot less than 10 grand THANKS JEFF B ALL THE WORK + PARTS = $2550 + $ 998.99 JUST FOR THE SUBFRAME
Brian P
get a subframe from a JY years '91-96 will work in '88-97. The aluminum one is only like 25 #'s less. NOT worth it. Also tell that woman to put her hand in the turbo and let a man sell the cars. Fucken MORON.

patgizz
my cradle was $150 with control arms and it isnt hard to replace with a engine hoist or other means of supporting the drivetrain while you pull it.
Canada
The cradle washers and bushings on the '91 here are also rotten/rusted out.
Jcrow
My subframe moved in every direction while driving so I bolted angle iron along the rails under the seats. Welded a short angle iron to the subframe. Bolted them together. The car handles so much better. I might even attach the front of the subframe the same way. tloftus
I thought about welding mine up there, but I don't think they'd ever be able to fully align it then, they move that subframe in an alignment if I'm not mistaken. -T
Guest Gp crazy
? Yes, they do move the subframe for alignment to some degree not sure how much or which way though. also dont i need to disconect the struts to do the swap?
