WhiteOut
Its supposed to be right up there with AMSOIL. Its classified as a group V or VI synthetic which is a good as oil gets to my knowledge. I think most name brand synthetics are group classified as group IV, so its a step above Pennzoil, QS, Mobil, or Valvoline. Let us know how it works out for you. patgizz
great stuff. i've been using it for years, and summit has it for $4 a quart. the first time i used it was on a 97 chevy 1500 pickup with 20k miles. i changed from regular oil to royal purple. when i started it up with the RP, the motor got quieter and ran smoother, and this was pretty much a brand new truck. that sold me on it. manitcor
Used royal purple for quite a long time, just recently switched to AMSOil, only difference Ive seen is that I tend to run a few degrees cooler with AMSOil than I did with royal purple. Garrett8
i watched horse power TV and they took an LS1 dynoed it then put in RP oil and trans fluid and it gained like 4 horses and the wheels so i guess it would be worth it even if only for the extra protection in would provide

gp90se
royal purple is the balls, We ran it in a diesel motor and it actually got much quieter. I wouldnt be surprised if ya mpg goes up a bit and runs much quieter.

90TGP
Summitracing.com has it. I ran it in my TGP last year, and it ran great. I'll probably get some more for my next oil change coming up.

He recently got rid of it after doing heads, cam, headers, and true duals to buy a GTP comp G. Oh and for what it is worth that was the first and last time the car saw the Royal Purple. He said it cost too much for the little amount of gain.
BIGBULS
Its supposed to be right up there with AMSOIL. I think most name brand synthetics are group classified as group IV, so its a step above Pennzoil, QS, Mobil, or Valvoline. Let us know how it works out for you. Close, but no cigar........... Royal Purple is a Group IV PAO (as are Redline, Mobil 1 and Amsoil), which IS a step above the average "synthetic" such as Castrol Syntec, Valvoline Synpower, Q-State Synthetic etc (which are all "Hydrocracked" Group II's [making them into Group III's], and thus, NOT fully synthetic). There are also your basic Group II conventional oils out there, and you can still occaisionaly find a Group I on the shelf of a gas station if you don't pay attention. Group IV PAO's (polyalphaolefins or some crazy shit) are as good as MOTOR oils get...............there are also Group V's which are used in "super" lubes that you get such as WD-40 type sprays.................and these are NOT suitable for use as motor oils. So anyway............if you want the BEST oil out there, look at Amsoil, Redline, Mobil 1 or Royal Purple......................and since M1 is the only READILY available one of the lot......... Any one of these four is a DAMN good oil though.
SigEpCutlass
i use Amsoil 0-30 Series 2000 Synthetic Racing Oil. The stuff is amazing. My car runs very smoothly on it. In terms of temperature, I'm not sure what it did on my W. However, in 3 other applications at my house in a '92 MTX SHO, '00 Subaru Outback, and '00 VW Golf GLS there have been noticable improvements. The SHO is smoother in the higher RPM's that it already was. The Subaru runs and accelerates a bit more quietly. Well, that was before my dad put the Amsoil high flow air filter in there, and now if you floor it in between 2,000-3,000 RPM it is loud as hell!!! It sounds like it has a CAI. lol! The golf's somewhat sluggish acceleration has improved noticiably at lower RPM's. In my car, i definately noticed more zip with the addition of the Amsoil, and a K&N drop in. I haven't dynoed but I'm certain that I make more HP now. I wish the other thread about Mobil 1 woulda been like this... I highly reccomend Amsoil Synthetic to anyone wanting to use synthetic! Online the oil i used is $8.35 a quart, 12 quarts are $99. Yea I know it a bit pricey, but the stuff works great. Improvements in performance and mileage have been noted. My dad is a long time customer and small time dealer for it, so we get a price cut. here's a comparison chart:
