jamhoney
I am planning on swapping in some L67 36lbers for my L32 31lbers in a couple days. Is there anyone that knows what steps generally need to be taken to accomplish this safely? I have asked on clubshitty.com already.
Aaron
Yah, actually while I try and think of osmething assholish to say. Make sure you clamp the line or bleed the pressure, otherwise you'll have gas(premium I hope) EVERYTWHERE. And you thoguht L67s lit on fire easy on their own.......try having gas all over them Now the assholish part. Yah, plug the right wire into the right injector

jamhoney
L36? No I am swapping in L67 injectors.(36lbers) I have an L32(31lbers). Am I mistaken about the rate of flow on the L67 injectors?

Ahh based on your body style you have a genIII 3.8, am I mistaken or isnt that still the L36??? Sorry man now Im confused. Even so as long as you swapping from the same year L67 you shouldnt have a problem. I THINK the only thing that has changed in the past few years if the connector to the harness. I know this is an easy swap on the older L36/L67 but im not up on the new 3rd gens and Im really more of a 60v block guy.
jamhoney
Sorry about the confusion. I was just looking for a general answer as to what needs to be done to safely remove the injectors. I think these are the engine codes: L32 = 2004 GTP L26 = 2004 GT L67 = 97-03 GTP L36 = 97-03 GT

I didn't realize the injecters were so damn small though.
jamhoney
Yeah it is wierd they dropped from 36 to 31lbers. They also changed the fuel system so the pump is in the tank and the pressure is at a constant 60psi.

no1kicker
I would think it would be pretty straight forward. I would pull the fuel pump relay, and let it run til it dies to releive pressure. Also get new O-rings. I would replace the fuel filter too if you haven't already. Is there any tuning required for bigger injectors? Just curious as I am 70% sure my next car will be a newer GTP. jamhoney
You just need an AFC 1.1 or 2.0.
manitcor
yeah now that I know what your asking, its really stright forward, just be careful when pulling them out of the lower intake and make sure that the o-ring doesnt fall down into the engine, that makes for a bad day

Just wondering...
jamhoney
Yes that is conveniently mounted in the tank. Some have suggested converting it to a boost dependant system.

manitcor
WHAT WOULD BE A LOGICAL SWAP FOR A 3100'S INJECTORS 22.5lb injectors from the 3400 but only if you have a 96 or higher unless you convert to ODBII TURN YOUR CAPS LOCKS OFF
weasle_13
Sorry, I am at work, and have to write all internal memos in caps. How hard is it to convert it to odbII
manitcor
Sorry, I am at work, and have to write all internal memos in caps. How hard is it to convert it to odbII not too hard provided you have a 3100/4t60 or DOHC/4t60, t65 engine trans combination. Im upgrading to ODBII myself along with a trans upgrade but to go to ODBII you dont need to change the trans: http://www.mymonte.com/shwmessage.aspx?ForumID=2&MessageID=179095
weasle_13
It is a 4t60-E in a 1995 GM3100
manitcor
It is a 4t60-E in a 1995 GM3100 Same combo I have/had you can do the upgrade just like im doing. Moving to a 4t65 trans is optional. Without the trans upgrade your parts cars will be 96-99 prefferably same model but not completly neccassary.
weasle_13
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES TO THE 4t65 TRANSMISSION? ALSO, IS THERE A MANUAL SWAP I CAN DO?
manitcor
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES TO THE 4t65 TRANSMISSION? ALSO, IS THERE A MANUAL SWAP I CAN DO? the t65 is a stronger tranny and has become the GM standard on all 00+ W-cars Its a close relative to the t60 however can handle more power and is less prone to the famos 75k destruction most seem to expierence. Theres also a much larger aftermarket if you want to build a trans that can take some serious power. There are manual options but the info is scarce and its very rarely done. I've yet to see someone install a manual in 1.5 or 2nd Gen W-body unless that car had a manual option in the first place.
