There's your problem.

Only joking. Maybe check your Coolant Temperature Sensor. It might have gone south on you and your computer is now dumping fuel thinking your car is still warming up. I'm not sure about the LQ1 but on the 3.1/2.8 there are two, one for the dummylight/gauge and one for the computer.

Otherwise, I'd check the other sensors. That's the only one I know detail about.

My low coolant light has been on for a little over a year now.

I will like a little more replies before i buy a coolant sensor. How much do they retail for??

I thought the low coolant light was cause by the coolant level sensor, not the temp sensor. Another factor might be the O2 sensor, how old is that?

The C02 sensor is probably as old as the car since I never changed it. Also there is a line going from the bottom cylinder head to the intake infront of the throttole. This line broke a while back there is no sensor inside, does anyone know what that is?

intake gaskets. If you are a rookie, about 30 bucks for gaskets and 4 hours. If you have wrenched on this car a bit before I'd say 2 hours.

if the car does not have a steady idle, thats the intake gaskets. i wouldnt blame those right away.

do you happen to have a scan tool?

hi

I think the problem is alot of the basic stuff plugs, wires, air filter, oil change & so on.

Does the check engine light come on all the time? It should if you have a vacum leak or a sensor is not working right. May be it's just out of time i mean cam timing the cams are not keyed and can slip out or the belt can strech. If this happens your looking at some down time and some green backs to fix it. if you do it yourself around 300 for all the parts. But if your not handy with a wrench your looking at 600 green backs or more thats parts + labor at $60+ an hr. so check the BASIC STUFF FIRST !!!!!!!!!!!!

just a thought jeff b

I know its a gas (fuel injection) thing because i smell gas when I run my car for a long time and park it. It is comingfrom under the hood. There is no check engine light. Also this is a OBD I (95-under) so the scan tool is probably worth more then the car, at this point.

So far i have to Change Coolant sensor, CO2 sensor, Intake gasket, fuel filter, plugs and wire.

I have a new OEM air filter, and just chaged the oil.

OK :D

take it one step further look at all your gas lines from pump to engine just maybe you brushed something and cracked a line + the regulator may be bad or the O-ring in the end's of the lines may be leaking? Or an injector may be bad not a good thing ): just may be an ignition coil went bad but you would know the loss of two cyl's. :(

OK

One other step take a can of air intake cleaner "NOT CARB CLEANER." Spray around the gasket areas & notice the change in IDLE in no change then move on to the base of the intake if you can reach.

IM not sure if there is a mark were the timing should be. But on my 3.1 there is a diamond shaped mark on the timing cover & when I replaced the timing chain it lined up like it should when I was done.

So turn the engine over to line up the mark. Then rock the crank forward then back you should feel a little play but if it's a lot thing's are streched. have you looked at your belts for stress yet? How many miles on it?

Do a compression check 170 with a 15% vareance nothing less OK.

just some more Info jeff b
