EGR issues...probably ask god910

Error code from WGS (wastegate Solenoid)...NO! The ECM just tells the WGS to pulse and does not look for a handshake of status from the WGS... 8)

not sure why you would want to use a TGP chip in a stocker 3.1. the TGP chip will run the motor a little richer which will loose power and it will throw EGR codes.

kinda sounds like he's doing what i'm doing.... running a TGP engine on a NA 3.1 wiring harness using a TGP chip and a manual boost controller.

i think you could also retain the ECM wastegate control while using a NA 3.1 wiring harness. something like you'd have to swap out the digital EGR on the NA 3.1 for the TGP style vacuum EGR, and then i think you can use the wires that were used for the digital EGR to control the wastegate solenoid....maybe someone can elaborate?

I dont have a tgp engine, and I cant find a tgp egr valve. I plan on custom building everything. So it sounds like if I dont have a TGP egr I cant use a Tgp computer chip. Which I think might be ok If I use an adjustable BEGI FMU. I only worry about ignition timing. I will have to rely on the knock sensor to retard the timing which I read can only do 10 degrees of retard. If that is not enough I will use water/alcohol injection. Does anybody know of a knock gauge for this car? other than a $300 scan tool. I know they have them for the grand national, but they have a remote esc. Our cars esc is built into the chip (no wires to attach a knock gauge).

how about NO EGR?

i'm going completely eliminate the EGR with a block-off plate on the plenum and then weld the hole in the crossover pipe shut. i'm going to be using modified TGP code that will never turn the EGR on so it won't throw a code.

That would make sense, but dosen't the egr prevent detonation by cooling the cylinders with unburnable gas? I once unhooked the egr on a 4cyl cavalier and it was pinging whenever you touch the gas, so I had to reconnect it
