skiiirt
I've had a problem with my car starting since day 1. The car takes on average about 5 -6 seconds of cranking to start. If I stop; turn the car off and crank, it will fire up immediately. Sometimes it will fire as soon as i start cranking. I was advised to let the computer boot (wait 10 seconds) before start. That doesnt work. Sometimes when I turn the key I get a click and no start, but if I turn the car off and back on it works fine. The crank sensor was just replaced with the engine. The battery is brand new any ideas? Also I dont have an accessory function. Like I cant turn the key backwards to get the tape player on. Could it perhaps be the actual ignition that is misfunctioning?
digitaloutsider
Also I dont have an accessory function. Like I cant turn the key backwards to get the tape player on. Are you using a factory/GM original key or a duplicate from say a hardware store?

THe_DeTAiL3R
My sister's Sunfire wasn't starting until the second time you turn the key. It would just *chug chug die*, and then start up fine. I put some fuel injector cleaner and it started up perfect.
5speedz34
IDK...IMO I think the 3.4's take longer to crank.
skiiirt
Its an original GM Key. Wether or not its a duplicate GM key I don't know. Also, on a side note. I want to install some form of remote start. I don't want to be causing any damage to the car because the crank time is rather long and having a starter try with no success. (i've heard horror stories about remote starters). Anyone have any info on this. Maybe some advice as to what to get. I want an alarm system, more than willing to buy an expensive system that comes with a starter as well. Just don't want to waste my money on just an alarm, seeing as I only have my car to protect, no sound system
