99RegalGS Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 Today I put a good battery into the cutlass and it still wasn't charging good (wouldn't start either, had to jump it). So I thought that maybe the positive lead off the alternator was going bad. I bought 6'of 4ga wire and connected the alternator directly to the battery (instead of from the alt to the starter then to the batt). And just out of curiousity I wanted to see if it would start by itself now. Turned the key and it fired up. And I looked at the voltage and it read 14.3 volts . I let it run for a good 15 minutes and it still was charging good. So now it's finally fixed and I can drive it again. Quote
