Nick1234
Okay, 93 lumina euro, 3.1 Problem: when driving car under normal conditions, no problems at all. Push the car alittle more, at wot, the problem occurs but NOT ALL THE TIME. for example, you stop the car and then floor it, when it reaches 4500 rpms, it feels like fuel is being cut off and you lose power. kinda like in nuetral it cuts off fuel. THats what it seems to me. Now someone may say, igniton. All has been replaced throughout time. ICM, all 3 coils, recent tune up, 2 weeks ago. And its not like its missing. Now i have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter counltess time through the years, fuel rail, and a few other small components cause they have broken. Problem still exists. I have also replaced the 3 vacuum lines comming out of the top of the throttle body. Now the vacuum line closest to the front of the car goes to the fuel pressure regulator. THAT is what i am thinking could be the culprit now. any input. IT has been doing this for a while. But when you go to pass a semi, and you floor it and she down shift to second, you get in the passing lane and all the sudden the engines rpms start jumping from about 4000-5000 with almost all power lost, and a car comming towards you, then it gets to be a bitch. It only does it when i push the car more than maybe once a day. How hard it is to replace the fuel pressure regulator. Is it right behind the oil cap? THanks so much, Nick
Guest Gp crazy
well i think you may have a fuel line that is being pinched in some way. check engine mounts or look for a bad factory rubber lines that may collapse under load. You would never think about it but it's possible! I found that as lines get old they collapse fairly easy under stress! that is my thought's . no ses light right ? or codes right like 45 or 44 or both at once means lean or rich oxy sensor + if you never replaced it in a few years for the 20-30 bucks it worth it better milage + running over all. what happens they get slow over the years & they don't change as fast. also check air filter a nasty air filter will cause a bad running engine all over the rpm band. may be a bad fuel regulator alltogher. not sure how to test it ): just a thought or two jeff b hope i helped in some way (:
Nick1234
thanks a lot for responding. The air filter isn't dirty enough to matter. I never throw an ses light, it would be nice if it would though. Aparrently the fuel pressure regulator was changed when i asked my dad. But i don't know if the problem started to happen when he changed it. Could be faulty. SO, im going to yet again check vacuum lines and fuel lines. TOday i realized the the vacuum line going to that vacuum ball, yea it was broke. Very brittle. So i have to replace that and hopefully my cruise control and a/c will work properly now. Also where do i get this vacuum line? like do the people behind the counter at auto zone have to get it? nick
Guest Gp crazy
well you can go to the dealer. but this is what i did i ran rubber lines form the top of the t/b & through out the whole system everything works now thank God. take the broken line and match it with rubber line pay attention to the three way thing up around the cruise box don't mess it up or things will not work right. also i used wire ties to hold the ends of the lines for the most part you will not need them i did it just for a safety measure. there are several different sizes for plastic lines so do them as they break I also forgot to metion fuel psi. if you can check it should be around 34-47 at the shrader valve next to reg. a little lower at idle if it's low like 25-30 you may have a pluged filter or a dying pump & i know you did not want hear this. but until you test it you will never know or even a pluged pump filter in the tank. jeff b
Nick1234
okay so i replaced that vacuum hose going from the vacuum ball up. OMG it worked. My cruise control holds speed, and my a/c blows cold and hard (sounds dirty) and the middle vents don't shut off when you give it throttle. I think there was another post on this. not sure Nick
Guest Gp crazy
Glad to hear that it's all fixed that was simple. If you want add little more go to her just add a k & n filter. Keep tabs on fuel mileage with a reg filter then change it to a k & n filter & see the difference not much but every little bit help's. At 1.99 a galon! to get a pulley for the crank look into FFP they add a few more HP & tq at wheels
Nick1234
in fact i do have a drop in k & n filter. Ive never been sure whether i wanted to do the pulley or not. Is it worth it? do i feel the power gain? im running subs, will the power needed be affected. is it hard? Those are all questions i have. Money isn't an issue nick

You do have to/can remove the right-side strut tower and you need a pulley/harmonic balancer puller. That's about it.
