89 cuttsupreme Posted July 22, 2004 Report Share Posted July 22, 2004 I am getting ready to let my buddy from toyota replace my head gaskets because of lost compresion and loosing water.Since i will be that deep in the motor,what can i replace to get performance.I think ill have him port and polish but i do not know.Just give me some thoughts and opinions on the subject. Guest TurboSedan Posted July 23, 2004 Report Share Posted July 23, 2004 new head bolts are a MUST. run a tap down thru the head bolt holes and spray them out with Brakleen. you'll obviously have to replace the lower intake manifold gaskets as well as the plenum gaskets. replace the oil pump drive o-ring while you have it apart. i'd resurface the heads and get new valve seals installed as well as a valve job.
