Which cars or tranny had the 3.33 carrier for the gears? I am planning on 3.73 gears and all I need is the carrier. Just wondering what cars have it

I know that the 4t60-e had it, and possibly the latter 4t60's. The manuals im not sure about though. They may have had it, but don't ask me on that one.

wait, so technically, its already in my tranny? So if I have the carrier which is 3.33 then what about my gearing? Since its a DOHC, isn't it 33/37?

all 4T60's-E's 3.1's have the 3.33 in W-bodys, 3.43 for the 3.4

While I'm not quite 100% certain on this, I'd put money down that it has a 3.18 axle ratio (and a 2.84 1st, 1.60 2nd and 1.00 3rd).

I know for a fact 95 and 96 monte LSs and the Z34s that got the 4t60e all had 3.33 gears

Later years got 3.29

The mid 90s caddys that got the 4t60 also had a 3.33 gear set.

Almost every W-Body fleet car will have 3.33 or 3.29

3.1 w's have 3.33 carrier and 3.4 w's have a 3.06 carrier all 3.4 cars had a 3.43 final drive unless they used the 4t65e. 3.4 cars a 33/37 ratio while 3.1 had 35/35. the caddys i belive had a 3.33 carrier but a 37/33.

can we make up our minds??? 3.33, 3.06, 3.43, or 3.29... what was used on the LQ1 trany im intrested in the 95 year...

Hey - here's a good way to tell what your ratios are:

http://thirdgen.org/cgi-bin/rpo/index

You can either enter your RPO codes in the boxes or you can browse the list. They say that the codes are only for Thirdgen F-Bodies, but they work for all GM cars and trucks.

For those that don't know, the RPO sheets in our cars are usually on the spare tire cover in the trunk.

All 91-97 LQ1's with the 60-E had a 3.06 differential with a 33/37 sproket set yielding a 3.43 axle ratio.

97 LQ1's with the 65-E (I *think* this may have been a mid-year swap......either that or ALL 97 LQ1's had the 65-E) had a 3.05 diff and the same sprocket set yielding a 3.42.........huge difference huh  ?

The 3.33 diff was found on *all* 3.1L and 94-98 3100 W-Body's along with 94-95 3100 L and N body cars. W's got a 35/35 sproket set meaning that they had a 3.33 axle ratio, whereas L and N Body's had a 37/33 set that geared them out to 2.97.............in 96 (through 98) the L and N Body cars got a 3.29 diff (2.93 axle ratio), whereas the 3100 W's kept their 3.33's until the 60-E was discontinued in '00.

65-E 3800's (L36's) got the 3.29 (or 3.05 in SOME cases) gears right around the time the Series II (3800) update happened.

Oh...........and 3800SC 65-E HD's got 2.93's (except the new Comp G which has a 3.29) for all years.

eww... 2.93..

that's ok, I think the '85 Monte V6 I was supposed to get had 2.73s... gotta do something to keep the mileage above 10mpg I suppose

I'd love to have some higher ratio gearing in this boat..
