Justin Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 Do '92's govern out at 110? I thought it was 117. Quote
GutlessSupreme Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 why cant i go fast Because you drive a first gen w-body. Don't worry, you'll get used to it. Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 Even if you get the speed governer removed you woun't be able to go a whole lot faster before the engine runs out of juice. Besides, YOU SHOULDN'T be driving that fast anyways!!!! Quote
Crimson Fury Z Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 and you'll have to get different speed rated tires too Quote
WhiteOut Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Just as a tip, people don't seem to appreciate cars moving that fast. I did it on a straight flat section of road the other day by my house and I got more people yelling at me and giving me dirty looks from there front lawns than I thought possible. It was like everyone knew I was coming and stepped outside to give me disapproving looks. Geez, I'll keep it under a 100 from now on. Quote
supreme_style21 Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Speed isn't a problem as long as you aren't endangering others. I sure hope you weren't in a residential area doing that. A LOT can go wrong with a car... especially at high speeds.. and when you're at high speeds and something DOES go wrong, you've got milliseconds to react and bring the situation under control. Nobody can respond and react that fast. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE speed. But my speeding is done where it is safe to others.. And a place like that is difficult to find. Quote
WhiteOut Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 I was no where near a residential area. There are houses along the road, but they're all at least 100 feet off of it. The road is also exceedingly flat, huge-mongously wide for a two lane road and its a straight shot with good visibility for two miles. Its also in the middle of no where. I'm not a complete dumbass for God's sake. And I'm well aware that these cars aren't built for speed, my car has good brakes and I still leave a half a mile to slow down. Even then you can smell how hot the brakes get. I shudder to think of what would happen if you had to stop fast from 100, the braking distance would be on the order of 400 ft. That said, sometimes you just have to throw common sense to the wind and see what your car can do. I only do it once a year or so, I mean if you didn't do once in a while you may as well be driving a Daewoo. Quote
supreme_style21 Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Ah no I ain't pointing you out in that whole thing.. I'm just saying in general.. I see a lot of people around here driving insanely fast. Most of them people aren't aware of what can happen. People/pedestrians have been killed here fairly recently by people driving too fast and/or racing. Quote
mfewtrail Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 why cant i go fast Because you drive a first gen w-body. Don't worry, you'll get used to it. You saying my TGP is slow? Quote

loominaz34 Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Yeah, dont be a dumbass and go fast in a residential area. I understand that where you were reasonably safe about it. BUT about two months ago a mustang was racing a camaro on a residential street and at about 110 MPH the driver lost control and hit a tree. The engine was found a hundred yards away and the front left suspension was thrown through the bedroom window of two little girls. The car was completely bisected and both passenger and driver were killed on impact. there were skidmarks for about 50 feet, so about .5 seconds of terror before these guys died. Not the best way to go. Quote
KING JOKER Posted July 19, 2004 Author Report Posted July 19, 2004 I am not saying that i myself go speeding through the streets and would not do that due toto the fact that my neighbors are crazy and have the cops on speed dial but what i am saying is that there are places where you can go in excess of 100 or 115 and i wanted to get an idea of how to bypass the govener Quote
