lynchmob723
Well i have a weird problem...my car overheats to the first red mark on the temp gauges...but when i accelerate or rev the engine...it cool down close to normal, but then jumps right back up..I put a new water pump in and had the coolant flushed and pressure checked. I watched them flush the system and the t-stat seemed to be working fine. leak no coolant, and dont seem to be mysteriously missing any when i drove it (burning it off). This is really weird and i have tried everything to my knowledge..any help?

Slade901
If your coolant temp is showing overheating and you were not loosing coolant then it could be just just the coolant temperature sensor could be dirty or clogged up or needs replacement. When you let the engine run at IDLE, does the fan even turn on around between 10 to 15 minutes? If you have not flushed your coolant for more 2 years, the coolant passage ways inside the engine could still have a gunk even though they have flushed it. The radiator itself could be still be gunked up. The radiator cap is very important because if that cap does not hold up within its recommended PSI setting then it could be opening up at a lower PSI to the overflow coolant reservoir. If the radiator cap is not holding at its rated PSI rating then the coolant pressure lowers down and will make the coolant overheat faster as it let excess coolant come out to the overflow coolant reservoir. If the radiator cap holds within its recommended PSI rating then the coolant will reach higher temperature and does not overheat quickly. THe_DeTAiL3R
Check to make sure it is blead properly. Try another t-stat (new ones can go bad.. it happens)
lynchmob723
it was the t-stat...gasket was shot..leaking just barely, hardly noticable...all good now
THe_DeTAiL3R
Always use the new gasket that comes with new t-stats.
