Cornerdealy Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 This is now the 2nd time i've drained the battery by leaving the fan switches on for a few hours without knowing it. I've got the battery hooked up to my friend's trickle charger which is connected to my house. I just put in a brand new battery a few weeks ago, so if i let the charger run overnight, would I be ok? THe_DeTAiL3R Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 You should be fine. After you put the battery back in let the car run for 20min or something so it can charge up good. Last time I drained my batt was when I had my stereo on loud for several hours.. but I found that kinda cool .. "my stereo is so powerful it drained the battery, I need a boost 8) " Quote
Cornerdealy Posted July 16, 2004 Author Report Posted July 16, 2004 the battery is still in the car now, I didnt feel like taking it out, so i guess it still would be fine though. Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 Just get a boost and let it run for half an hour. Its not like its cold outside or something, it should be fine. Quote
slick Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 I'm so stupid. I'd say. Anyways, i would probably do the same. Infact, i need to get the fan switch thing going on my car sometime. Quote
Vegeta Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 Fully charge it with the charger. The alts job is not to charge the battery from dead, its job is to maintain a charge. Why stress the alt out trying to charge it back up that way when you can just use the house current to do it for you. Quote

May I suggest that in addition to the switch you added to switch the fans on and off, you wire in a relay that will cut the fans off when you switch off the ignition. That way they're off when you turn off the car regardless of whether or not you remembered to turn off the switch... Just my $.02 Quote
90TGP Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 I did that a few months ago, except it was my autometer gauges power switch. Left it on for two weeks Quote
