So I piicked up a hood bra from a yard a couple weeks back, and its in good shape other than a rip i have yet to take the time to fix, But I was considering dying it white. has anyone done/seen anything like this and know how or what to use? I just thought it might look good on a white car, and if not, oh well

I think it would look different, almost like the front of your hood is dented/wrinkled. But I guess I like the black bra on white car look, much like the black bra on white chick look. In either case braless is preferred though.

haha, yes, I agree. although my front end is kinda chipped up, and the bra has some white paint or something on it, so I thought it might look neat white. I guess I'll see what others think too:-)

I like black bras on my girlfriend

Anyway, it would for sure be different.. Maybe it would be killer on a black car, and maybe not a full one.. Put just the part that goes on the lip of the hood.. lol..

I agree with Justin that it would probably look dented/wrinkled. You could try it though it you don't really care about the bra. I really like the idea of having a front bra piece cause of the fact it does protect the hood from chipping.

PS. I like black bras on my gf too.

I enjoy black on black.

The only problem I could see, is that once it got dirty (if you were to dye it) it would show dirt like a MF'er. Cuz my black bra is sometimes hard to keep clean.

I agree having a COMPLETE bra looks retro... but just having the piece on the hood looks good to me and does wonders for protecting it from paint chips..

a bra will make any car look bad. right up there with rear window louvers from the 80s....

Yes yes yes. Your not the first to tell me...lol. But I'd rather have the bra than those window louvers...Also it's a great way to save money by hiding this damn chips. Even after I touched 'em up, still looked like hell.

when it's just the part on the hood it doesn't look bad. usually a full bra will make the nose of the car look cluttered and messy. i see way too many cars with bras that partially block the headlights/foglights, or just look like they are installed crooked and baggy looking. kinda looks like a dirty sheet draped over the front of the car. ok i'm done ranting

The partial bra only works if your car's hood curves at the front into the grille area (like the Cutty's or 85-91 GA's.) The Regals, for instance wouldn't benefit from a partial bra because the hood is flat and sits behind the header panel.

:werd: A chipped hood looks better than a bra.

Only reason I put one on my Cutlass was because we lived way out BFE and my hood was largely unchipped (got it repainted a few years back)... I started seeing little chips showing up from the long highway commutes. I bought it for protection only, and now that I live much closer to town, I took it off and the car looks a million times better.

Grrrrrrr... :cuss: :x Yeah I'm jealous, I want to play with D's also, but Penny would kill me.

When i had my Z-34 i found a complete bra for it. Course my front end has soo many chips and paint missing on it that i almost thought it looked better. Plus I had the headlight covers which when all of it was on i had an all black front end on a white car. It looked really good when i shined up the bra with Armor All 8)

The only problem with a bra is if you left it on for a while the underside would collect a ton of dirt and eventually scratch it up even worse so its basically your call

Somethign that i think looks rediculous is when SUVs have bras on.... :?

what you do is you get a compound like wix scratch out. it even removes discoloration. I usually do that before I wax my car. I would rather be doing that then using touch up paint. I personally like car bras anways...but i'm sure you've already gathered that

I don't know if you already had an answer to your origional ??? I re-did the interior of a '72 Torino for a guy and had to color match some dash vinyl. I bought a "vinyl dash dye kit" from the auto body supply store . Was relatively cheap ...about $30 if i remember.....but easy stuff to work with, very good quality, and if you finished with the flexible UV screen spray I don't imagine you would have many concerns with stains or greying. That torino was delivered in '93 and last I saw it (this past May at the Three hills auto show) The dash and door skins were still stark white, and the guy said he simply uses 409 on it and rinses with a clean cloth when I asked him a couple years ago.

Hope this helps

My cutty would need a full bra because if you look at it, even from far away, you can see every single chip in it, and there all along the front of the car. But no worries, new Cutty's may be arriving soon 8)
