Guest Anonymous
The mechainc called. she said that the timing belt went becuase the pulley snapped off and broke the belt cover and something else. They are not sure if there is any engine damage. $1250 i think its a rip off. Could that even happen?
Vegeta
Its possible but its not exactly common. For 1250 I would be doing it myself.
SigEpCutlass
that sounds pretty crucial. Um where did you take it to? Did you take our advice and have an ASE certified GM mechanic look at it? If you haven't I'd definately want a second opinion when they're giving me that high of an estimage
lukee1982
the pully probbably broke but the common thing is for the bearings in the pullies to get full of dust and start tipping slightly which will make the belt move to one side or the other eventually moving the belt so that it will rub and slowly make the belt smaller which will make the belt snap. i would definatly think about doing the belt yourself it isn't that hard

Daggar
My pulley cracked. I ordered all the parts to fix it from gmpartsdirect.com cost me about 400.00usd for the parts. it's a bitch of a job but if your patient it can be done. Guest Anonymous
I bought the car the car w/ 115,xxx and it went at exactly 121,000 miles. Im not sure when the belt was last changed, but since it was the pulley, the belt doesnt matter. I mean... what am I supposed to do pay a few hundred to see if a pulley is ok? I guess its one of thos "shit happens" situations. Whats done is done and IT SUCKS.
