I was wondering what the subject title says. I bought a 1400watt amp kit to use to relocate the battery to my trunk. The main cable is 4ga but stereo quality of course...what dio you guys think?

On the Summit Racing website, you could have bought a battery relocation kit for less than $50 and it would have come with 2 gauge cables.

5 buxs for battery box, $24 for AMP installation kit (could've gone to HomeDepot)...so overall not bad...

As long as the cable has to be....and as much current will be flowing during starting.....I think you should use at least 2 gauge with a big ol fuse.

4ga is plenty! look at your battery terminal wires. they are probably no bigger then 10ga or 8ga your biggest draw of power your car uses is the starter and thats ~50-100amps and even 8ga can handle that 4ga wire should work just fine.

The factory battery cables are about 4ga, but since distance = increase in resistance, I would increase the wiring gauge to compensate for extra distance.

I wouldn't use anything smaller than 2ga....my Camaro is getting 1ga, but a 400ci small block chevy requires a bit more power to start then near stock v6s.

If I were ever going to relocate the battery I would use 2 guage or even 0 guage....
