vegaslumina
Has anyone ever changed the pcv on a Lumina 3.1? I have the Haynes manual and it says its supposed to be on top of the valve cover but there is no way the one that the auto parts store sold me is going to fit there. They insist it is the right one. Any feedback or websites with pics would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks
mihela816
It goes on the rear valve cover, and it is hard to get to.

vegaslumina
thanks for the info!! These haynes manuals are really shitty. They don't explain things clearly. Thanks again!!
paulo57509
thanks for the info!! These haynes manuals are really shitty. They don't explain things clearly. Thanks again!! If you think a Haynes manual is bad, you should try a Chilton manual. Some of their procedures are actually WRONG. I've found Haynes motorcycle manuals to be pretty good. vegaslumina
yea according to them the pcv is supposed to be on the front valve cover but i found out(thanks to the wonderful people here) that its actually on the rear valve cover and a real pain in the ass to get too. But i plan on changing the spark plugs and ill have to rotate the engine forward anyways so i'll do it all in one shot. Unless anyone else has any other suggestions for changing the pcv. You may have been looking at the wrong motor, cuz a 3100 has the pcv on the front valve cover
93CutlassSupreme
you might have to pull the upper intake to get at it. i couldn't pull it out of the tube with the intake on, and the pvc line was cracked anways

omegaprofit
I'd like to shoot whoever decided to put the pcv on the back valve cover. Why didnt they put it on the front where the other breather tube is? Crap like that makes me want to go back to work on my truck :x

89Cutlass
Yea i had the same trouble reading the hayes manual finally i was feeling around the back valve cover and found it. it had never been changed in 200,000 miles the original one. So when i changed it, i had never seen a pcv valve make a car run better except for this one. lol what a stupid design putting it on the back valve cover.
