cryptnix
3100 with 130,000 miles worth a turbo? i am talking about turbo charging the thing ... the swap is making me nervous already ... looking into a fast way of making it "faster" (manifold gasket change and whatnot ...) jeremy
my answer is still the same.... ...depending on how cheaply you can fab up a turbo setup......
THe_DeTAiL3R
Is your car still smelling of burnt oil? Maybe you should figure out what is causing that before trying to turbo charge it..
cryptnix
ok, i'll laugh with you. i'm too am very picky as far as where my car stands gotta rip the throttle body off, the top plenum and work away the stupid fucking gaskets and get that o ring out ... and i plan on doing it later this evening... going to take a nap... but other than that ... while this is off what else should i do ... and sir, I have friends... I'm not just glued to my damn chair but, i will be searching for a TGP, or, something of the revelant motor size (for the turbo setup) I believe I will go with a turbo setup... I know its going to be hard but ... so would a damn 3800 install ... (just hope I don't blow this motor up!!)
Guest TurboSedan
it would be easier to turbocharge a 2.8/3.1 MPFI engine over a 3100, because obviously you could use TGP parts. but if you're willing to do the extra work then a turbo 3100 would definately be worth it. i'm turbocharging my 223,000 mile 3.1 (i fully expect it to blow), so i see no reason you couldn't turbocharge your 130,000 mile 3100. you'll have to either have a custom rear manifold made, somehow modify a 3.1 TGP rear manifold to work, or just block off the rear exhaust dump on the 3100 exhaust manifold. then you'll need to have a custom crossover made up along with a way to support the turbocharger. you could probably use a TGP radiator/IC setup or just go with a custom front mount....or even non-intercooled. as far as wiring goes the easiest way would probably be to ditch the OBD-2 SFI engine management and run it on a TGP wiring harness (batch fire) and ECM w/TGP memcal. lots of other stuff needed for sure, like bigger injectors, custom oil/coolant lines to/from turbocharger, custom charge pipes, custom downpipe, etc etc. i think the stock shortblock and internals would be just fine but i would definately get a good Melling HV oil pump first along with new GM head gaskets and head bolts of course. if you're going to do a 3100 then you could probably go to a 3400 easily later. Canada
I'd stay away from the T25.....its not exactly ideal by any means. Also, if you have some fabricating skils.....make your own headers, up-pipes, and downpipe. It'll perform better once you figure out what you need. cryptnix
i know its not going to be the easiest damn thing in the world. i have no experience what so ever. i want todo it ... by all means for whatever process its goin to take. if i have to invite one of you folks over for a week or two would you be interested in it ... along with few $$$ for your time? if i found all the things you need? if i go witha tgp computer, i would merely switch to a 3.4 ... and drop in a 282 ... or 284 .. all in all whatever it takes to get it done i just want a sleeper. i have a 75 cutlass thats sitting ... agging me to get her running ... thats my first project. she started right up today amazingly ... she's turned over twice (tens thousand incriments) so 280,000 miles ... not bad for a 350 rocket :-) needless to mention that all she needs rebuilt is a damn carb... and she still ... she still lights them up on dry pavement I'm gonna see about getting dual exaust put on her, well some flow cause it already has the dual exaust setup *quivers* gotta love the olds cutlass'

OldsmoBeast
Why are you getting nervous about the L67 swap? I'm curious because as soon as I have enough money, that's definitely what I plan on doing...of course....i have no clue when i'm going to have that much money, but it's my biggest dream right now... Whats up? YK
