MIKELABZ Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 has anyone ever tried putting a 3.4 in a car that was made for a 3.1? Quote
SigEpCutlass Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 people do swaps like that here before...trying doing a search topic. Quote
MIKELABZ Posted July 9, 2004 Author Report Posted July 9, 2004 did a search and no dice on swapping engines with a 3.1 and 3.4, but plenty of info on swapping with corvettes and such... Quote
cutlassdude96 Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 do a search on here not a internet search Quote
digitaloutsider Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 A 3.1/3.4 swap is not that difficult since the cars are already made to accomidate the engine. I'm doing my own Turbo 3.4 swap pretty soon. Quote
White93z34 Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 since your car is likely a 3100 car a 3400 swap would be cake. Quote
5speedz34 Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Im assuming hes talking about a 3.4 DOHC, its not to hard, its all bolt in stuff. Quote
MIKELABZ Posted July 9, 2004 Author Report Posted July 9, 2004 what other engines will fit into a 1994 cutlass supreme besides another cutlass engine? Quote
Blackamp;White Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 You mean GM motor wise? Aren't the subframes a tad different on the 3.4's than the 3.1 and 3100 cars? (along with the 2.8 for that matter) You could look into the 3400 (larger version of the 3100) as a possibility. But, other than the infamous cold start 3100 rattle boogy, I love the 3100. You could always look for a newer 3100, say one with 175hp and more torque (not sure the ratings on newer 3100s). I've also heard about the 3.8/3800 being a possibility, but I think it will require more work than the 3.4 (LQ1). Thoughts? Quote
digitaloutsider Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 A Series II 3800 swap is possible in a 1994+ (minus Lumina [95+]), since they also use the Serial Data Bus. Anything below 1994 would be.. next to impossible to say the least. Quote
