90TGP Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 It isn't my car, found it on cardomain. This SUCKS!!!! As you seen I had repainted all the yellow under the hood. I didn't want to torque the strut covers on and then in a couple of weeks replace the struts. So I did it now while they were off. AAWWWWWW MAAAAANNNN....this was not quite what I had pictured in my mind when I started. I read the book and did it the way the instructions instructed!!! Now it's a frickin mess 7/1/04    And an interesting way to pull the motor forward. Quote
maybe2fast Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 nice compression tool, I wonder if that was the cause Quote
jeremy Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 that is funny $hit....what is the link to the page....I want to see more pics... ...holy rusted rotor Batman... Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 I can't even tell what he was trying to accomplish in that 1st pic. 1. You don't take the wheel off or lift the car when changing the front struts. 2. You don't use spring compressors when changing the front struts. 3. When compressing the spring, you're supposed to use a PAIR of spring compressors, 1 on each side. What was he trying to do? Anyway, I had that same thing happen when I took a strut cartridge out with the car on the ground... the strut tube wouldn't align with the hole. I decided to be a dumbass and see if turning the steering wheel would help align the strut with the hole. Instead, it caused the spring to pop out just like that. It was a mess. Anyway, I learned that a PVC pipe works a lot better to straighten the strut tube and some chunks of wood works better to keep it in place once moved into position with the PVC pipe. Quote

Broan Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Well, the guy has done a hell of a lot of work on the thing, it's just too bad he didn't spend his time better Quote
90TGP Posted July 6, 2004 Author Report Posted July 6, 2004 I'll probably be painting the inside of my glove box shortly. There's a stain on it that won't come out. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Fisher Price Exactly. If Fisher Price built cars, this is what it would look like. Quote
MIKELABZ Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 the hood scoops are ridiculous. they look like they were super glued to the hood. Quote
maybe2fast Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 dude if I was that guy I would not have posted those pics, The W-body struts are the easiest struts to change and he made them so hard... good old Chilton manuals Quote
supreme_style21 Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Looks more like a Ronald McDonald car to me Quote
WhiteOut Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Fisher Price Exactly. If Fisher Price built cars, this is what it would look like. No, if Fisher Price built cars it would have been a second gen Lumina that got victimized, not an otherwise decent GP. Quote
z34_nut Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 i must laugh at his ability to use the KRYLON touch so sparatically "hrm lets see, the inside of my glove-box which no-one sees, i think i'll paint it BRIGHT FREAK'N YELLOW" under the hood doesn't look so good either, it's kinda a waste of 12.99 a can for that spray paint you know... Quote
MIKELABZ Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 you would think he would at least get brake pedals that matched.. instead he goes for BLUE!! Quote
Brian P Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 When I grow up I want to buy clearance spraypaint cans and do up my interior. Quote
