Stealth
I checked my tranny fluid and its the color of old oil, a very dark brown, If I bring it to a shop to get changed will it be ok? 217kms on the clock I dont think its ever been changed
THe_DeTAiL3R
I dropped the pan at 240km and the fluid was black as coffee.. I wouldn't been surprised if it was never serviced because the gasket fell apart into many pieces (it was leaking bad). Dropped the pan again at 277km, due to leaking CORK gasket. Fluid was also a very dark color, which is normal. My tranny shifts perfect. If it smells burnt, then you *may* have a problem, otherwise its normal. gp90se
Yup. Drop the pan, clean the magnet with brake cleaner, after u have pulled the filter out, use a low pressure air pump, might wanna use that 2 blow as much fluid outta the tranny as possible (even though the TC will stay full). put the new filter in and a RUBBER gasket, cork leaks, period. and fill with either synthetic tranny fluid or use a bottle of lucas transmission fix to soften the gaskets in the tranny. You could even go as far as going 2 an oil change place, have them do a fluid exchange to get 100% (or pretty close), have them put the bottle of lucas in after they flush it, THEN go home and change the filter and gasket, clean the magnet and reuse the fluid. -Jeff
