Deekay
i haven't messed with my battery or throttle body lately, but it seems the last few days when i start up the engine in my 88 gp le, in the morning, it revs right up by itself. any ideas? THe_DeTAiL3R
MAFs on the 88's go out like crazy (SES light on?) Try cleaning the IAC and Throttlebody If its idling fine and not stalling I wouldn't worry about it.. my car does it too. :?
Deekay
k the ses light is not on and in traffic today it heated up and then starting chugging a bit. it never came close to stallin tho.
THe_DeTAiL3R
Probably dirty or defective IAC. Clean it and your TB. Add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner to the tank as well.
Deekay
yea i already used the injector cleaner just the other day but thanx
Baddflash
actually '88 should have a MAP as they were changed over in '87 from MAF to MAP although the MAF may still be in place. A good cleaning of the TB/intake before running, then start it and shoot a bunch more cleaner in the intake revving it to keep it from stalling. Put it back together and take it for a good rip, should fix that.
1badtgp
88 may still have MAF(my 88 GP SE had it). If it does and is the MAF, I can sell you the one from that car cheap. It works great, cars engine went and car is got stripped for parts.
