what's the cable on the steering column do? it runs from the cluster of wires through the firewall. oh and it's from a 97 cutlass

Are you sure it runs thru the firewall cause the only cable on a console shifted steering column is the shifter interlock. That runs from the ignition switch (not the lock cylinder) to the shifter. That's what prevents you from shifting unless the ignition is in "off" or "run."

Only cable I know of, and thats what they told me its for.

positive it runs through the firewall. but as long as it's not necessary, i don't care. see, i kinda broke it, and i was just making sure i don't need it
