topless94style Posted June 23, 2004 Report Posted June 23, 2004 I will probably be doing this tomorrow, I went to Home Depot and picked up what I need to make the cam hold down tools. I would love to replace the belt at the same time, but I dont have the money to do that right now. But i got this crazy itch to work on my car. Any tips/hints/tricks I should know when doing this? About how long should this take to do? Quote
topless94style Posted July 10, 2004 Author Report Posted July 10, 2004 nope, i made the tools i just got lazy. I could go do it now.... Quote
topless94style Posted July 11, 2004 Author Report Posted July 11, 2004 GET IT DONE LAZY ASS!!! i started to yesturday, realized i need a little bit longer bolts, put it back together and started drinkin. Quote
slick Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Once you get yours done, come and do mine. Quote
Brian P Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 when you're ready to part it out, I could use the hood for my sister's car. Quote
GrandPrix34 Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 i wanna do it but I can't get the rear cam gear (rear intake cam) off... how the hell can I get it off?!?! Quote
Canada Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 Did you try a wrench? Whats the problem.....can't get it cracked loose? Try a longer lever (think pipe or jack handle). You can come and do mine too.....the intake is already off. Quote
GrandPrix34 Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 i have airtools so i can break the bolt the problem is getting the damn GEAR itself out...how?? Quote
Vegeta Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 If you have the 91-93 cam gears, you aren't gonna get that gear off without pulling the cam carrier. Its not vital for timing though, you just set it first. Quote
GrandPrix34 Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 i mean the 2nd to the last cam gear not the actual rear cam gear. I made a homemad puller and I can get the front 2 off but the 3rd one I have no idea how...the LAST one i know you cant take off without pulling the carier Quote
Vegeta Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 It will come off with barely enough room using the kent more puller. Gotta use a wrench though instead of the ratchet. Quote
GrandPrix34 Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 so is there any possible way to get that thing out without the kent moore tool? I was thinking just brute force, but the scars on my left hand tell me otherwise. man I want this so bad. Quote
Vegeta Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 I dont know how your current puller looks, but its gonna require a puller of some sort to get it off. Those lock rings are super effective. Quote
