GPdriver1986 Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 I just bought one of those revell models and the instructions say I should paint the interior burgandy/red, but I want to paint it the way it actually was made. Does anyone have pics of a 1988 Grand Prix SE interior? Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 LOL... all light grey Paint some brown on the carpet for dirt My 1988 Grand Prix was all grey.. probably just like your 4 door LE (light grey and dark grey plastic pieces). Although burgandy was an option, I've never seen it personally (I've seen tan though (I dunno about '88 though)). Heres some pics from Gearhead43's (modded) interior.. gives you a good idea anyways. http://pages.prodigy.net/gearhead43/DavesGP/interior.html Quote
Gearhead43 Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 88-89 are the same..... I 've got pictures up at http://www.cardomain.con/id/gearhead43 See index for interior page Quote

Does anyone have pics of a 1988 Grand Prix SE interior? I always did wonder if the SE's could have the other interior colors. All the ones I can remember had the grey interior. Here's some pics. 1st few are cloth; last few are leather. It looks like the pieces that are made of cloth are a lighter grey. Quote
Nick1234 Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 gearhead, did you ever run your car down the 1/4? Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 There are very very minor differences between '88 and '89.. such as the door panels. '88 didn't have the lights on them. They also didn't have the storage area (for maps or whatever) and the door speaker was a bit lower than the one on the pic. The colors are really the same though, good enough for your model anyways. Oh and I'm pretty sure the steering wheel buttons weren't out till '89 as well. Quote

I think 88's top of the lines had door lights in them.. and the door speakers are the same from all the ones I've seen.. Some 88 SE where pretty stripped compared to 89-90. I 've seen 88 SE's with 15' " wheelsno DIC BASE radios, and NO SE tailights!!!! Nick, I have not run 1/4 mile wioth it yet.. But I have been on plenty of oval/short tracks and road couse tracks. GPdriver1986 Posted June 17, 2004 Author Report Posted June 17, 2004 my car has a blue interior and this model does not have a DIC or HUD. Quote
Euro Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 hey Gpdriver1986, does the 88 SE have the 3.1 or 2.8?? Looks like im gonna have a lot of painting to do when i get my 88 model Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 my car has a blue interior and this model does not have a DIC or HUD. I thought you got the one that was molded out of all white plastic? Do you have THIS one? ^ thats the one I got, should be in the mail soon but looks like it's probably all white plastic. Sucks that it doesn't have a DIC. It makes sense that theres no HUD cause again I don't think that was an option in '88 That red and blue interior is interesting. The red is but I kinda dig the blue. Quote
90TGP Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 I have two TGP models and opened one up. The TGP's are molded in black. They also don't have the DIC or HUD either :? But they do have the digital gauge cluster. I just noticed something, the TGP model has BOTH the N/A exhaust manifolds and the turbo exhaust manifolds [the turbo has the cross-x pipe and turbo attached]. The TGP model is also a 5-speed, but with the auto shifter, and has the prototype upper intake manifold where TURBO is written on the 2nd line and INTERCOOLED is written on the third line, not integrated on the first. I also noticed that it has the 88-89 radiator supported over-flow container and not the bottle by the battery. I'm betting the TGP model was made with the pre-production TGP prototype. Quote

Crazy ol' GM! Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 I'll bet that most of the Revell/Monogram etc. models aren't 100% accurate. They probably use the same mold for different parts to save time/money, or just don't know that they are not being accurate. After all, WE are the world-wide experts on these cars! Quote
bluegp Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Burgandy Interior...Blue Interior... Aren't those from a base or LE car? By the way, the blue interior looks just like mine. Check out the climate controls on that one - is that one without AC? I've been wondering if the better bucket seats (SE/GTP style) ever came in blue. If so, I'd like to find some for my car. I've seen them in red/burgundy once in a early '90s car (don't remember what model it was), but never in blue. I'll bet that most of the Revell/Monogram etc. models aren't 100% accurate. They probably use the same mold for different parts to save time/money, or just don't know that they are not being accurate. After all, WE are the world-wide experts on these cars! Exactly. Back when I was building, it would take me forever to finish one because I got so consumed by correcting all of the minute details. Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Aren't those from a base or LE car? It really does NOT look like an SE.... the seats are plain, no DIC, regular radio, and the steering wheel isn't wrapped with leather (or plastic, whatever it is) My steering wheel is out of a LE, and although it has radio buttons it is not wrapped. GPdriver1986 Posted June 18, 2004 Author Report Posted June 18, 2004 did GP's have a black or charcoal interior? Quote
Gearhead43 Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 88-90 interiors where Gray/charcoal. With 90's being the ligthtest gray on the 88-90 GP's. The 91 had a two tone light gray/charcoal interior, and the 92-93 used mainly a charcoal interior. 88-90 also had blue, burgandy, and Sandwood. Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Got my GP today. Its all white (duh!). Anyways I've got this one and a '89 (its red)... I'm gonna paint one of them the way my car looks now, and the other the way my car looked from the factory. Quote
