Coolant hose randomly blowing up?

So heres the story: I was out running a few errands this afternoon, nothing too important (going to the bank to deposit some cash, dropping off a job application) and then just cruizing around town since it was a nice day for a convertible. im out only for maybe a half hour or 45 minutes and then get back home. I back in the driveway and go in the house, and about 2 minutes later i see smoke going by the window. I figure one of the neighbors is outside grilling or something, so I go outside and check it out and theres white smoke pcoming from my engine compartment. This baffles me seeing as how the whole time i was driving it everything was better than normal. I open the hood to find coolant all over the drivers side of the engine, and notice that it looks like the coolant hose split right next to the airbox, sending collant all over. (i turned turned the key on to see what my engine temp was and everything was fine there too) Im hoping that its just an old hose and that a new one will fix this problem (crosses fingers) Has anyone else ever had anything like this happen? I'm just really glad that this happened at home as opposed to being like an hour away :-)

EDIT:

Yeah, new hose and some coolant and all is well (other than people were giving me funny looks cuz the coolant that has sprayed out was smoking out of the engine til it was all gone :-D)

sounds like you just need a new hose. make sure you bleed the air out of the cooling system after you replace the hose & add more coolant and water.
