THe_DeTAiL3R Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 Try dumping a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. I prefer STP (they have 2 kinds, but I honestly think they are the same ) Also try cleaning your IAC and throttlebody. Stalling and irratic idling (and starting problems) are often related to a dirty fuel system, at least with my experience. Quote
syknesss Posted June 16, 2004 Author Report Posted June 16, 2004 i cleaned the iac not too long ago and the tb about 6 months ago and every now and then i put a bottle of injector cleaner in Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 Does it ever smell gassy? Maybe you have a leak in the system somewhere letting air it. Quote
GP1138 Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 I'm saying ICM and coilpacks. Try getting yours tested or swap them with a j/y car. After I got mine replaced, idling was much smoother. Quote
syknesss Posted June 16, 2004 Author Report Posted June 16, 2004 sometimes under the hood u can catch a tiny hint of a gas smell but thats normal right? i can notice the rpms bouncing going up and down maybe 100 rpms all the time at idle in gear or in park Quote
GP1138 Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 Tiny gas smell is normal, at least in my experience. Try the ICM and coilpacks, or even replacing your IAC. The best way to test that would be to unplug your IAC while the engine is running, if it doesn't change, that would be the problem, I've read. Quote
Stanley2187 Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Sounds like you may have a defective fuel regulator. Pull off the vacuum line and see if gasoline is present. Quote
