god910
Well, I got everything buttoned back up today, tires weren't in, not until Thursday (They just never got shipped, so Jay gets them for COST BIATCH) So, I ran a few miles on her today, was only getting 4 psi (on AutoMeter) Huh? Went home, switched out the W/G control Sol. (Had the one of the auto that was having the same problems) Went back out, damnit, same, just 4 psig. Then I pulled over to check the wiring to the sol. that's when I remembered, the p/o had installed the boost selector switch (red aviation style arming switch on the console) Well, it never worked before, IT SURE DOES NOW!!! I flipped that switch in 2nd, @ 4 psig, and BOOM, 12 psi like nothing, screeching tires and all. He used it as a launch device to limit boost, works great. I need to go and re-wire it though, his electrical skills leave much to be desired. Man that thing is fast. @ 4 psi, it felt faster than the auto at 14. I guess the track will tell. Josh, have you sent out the shtuff yet? If not, lemme know, we can work something out on shipping. I NEED that fan, my sec. on setpoint is low, so that helps, but it doesn't run long at WOT w/o heating up. ME=HAPPY

90TGP
You should get an auto shift knob [like from the 98+ GP's] with the sport drive button on the side. Rig it up somehow onto the manual shifter and wire the switch. That way it'll be within thumbs reach.
god910
Yeah, I think I'm just rig something up on the stick it's self. It'll just be temporary, because after the build (This upcoming winter) I'm gonna have an electronic MBC, so I won't have to worry.
mfewtrail
Get to the track this week after you get everything else sorted out and your tires!!!!! I'm curious to see what the 5spd il' do. You better be in the 14's, even in the heat.

I should be at the track this Saturday as long as there is no problems w/ the shipping (you guys keep your fingers crossed  ) I honestly plan on a 14.5-14.3 IF I get the hang of the car (never driven it there, haven't driven it since November, and never been on tires like the 555R Drag Radials) Like I have said before, I think there is a 13.5X in this car, after a little tuning, and some drivers ed! dbtk2
Man that thing is fast. @ 4 psi, it felt faster than the auto at 14. I sure hope so. The timing the chip gives with 14psi boost is horrible...the car would run much quicker on 12psi. Although I know you were having problems so you just pulled the vacuum lines, but I still wouldn't expect the 5 speed with 4psi to not be quicker...cause 14psi is just way too much. Guest TurboSedan
how about just use a zeiner diode off the map set @ like 10psi and run 14psi anyway?
god910
how about just use a zeiner diode off the map set @ like 10psi and run 14psi anyway? FWIW, the chip in my auto car is different than *some* TG160's (Based on what I'm told, could have been told wrong, so this statement could be false) As per. request I won't discuss any found differences, just suffice to say it's different. Josh, the fuel maps would then only support 10 psi. I would be running WAY lean. At least this way, I'd get max fuel and timing supported by the chip. If we can't get something worked out w/ a 3 bar map, I'm gonna try something different, and hope it works. What I'll be doing is setting my fuel and timing marks for the last smallest increment for whatever psi I intend to run at the track. (18 psi for example) The car will then have to run (rich, and less timing) from 14.7 psi, upto max 18 psi. The car will hold the last highest value it was given. So, @ WOT, whatever fuel and timing it's given at 14.7, it will hold. That's why these cars don't run PERFECTLY if the boost is raised above the programmed boost. I used to run the 5 speed upto 16 psi for short bursts, and it's faster than at 12, but not as fast as it could be, (and it's DEFINETLY NOT happy up there, due to the 5% effeciency of our compressor up there ) People please realize that, I am talking about doing this to a turbo that will operate up that high (and not as a heat pump ) I believe I'm gonna goto the strip tomorrow if I can talk myself into it. I drove the car to work today and didn't have any problems (NO primary fan, but car stayed at or below 160) Due to those great Sec. fan on/off points ) It'll probably rain anyhow, so I won't have to worry about it. Wish me luck.
