Guest TurboSedan Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 it can be done, heck i'm guessing you could get a '92 Z34 from the factory with a DOHC/Getrag 284. all of the shifter mounting provisions are on the floor already, along with the clutch pedal hanger under the dash. a plug in the firewall next to the brake booster should be there for the clutch master cylinder. i'm guessing you could *probably* use either the Getrag 282 or 284. i think most people here have transplanted a 282 with a 3.1, so there are probably some other things to consider if you are going with a DOHC and/or the Getrag 284. the 284 uses completely different hydraulic clutch setup than the 282, which i am completely unfamiliar with. although the 284 is a little stronger than the 282, i think the 282 will be much easier to find, cheaper, and you can get it rebuilt (parts are available). apparantly if you want to rebuild a Getrag 284 you have to send the whole thing to Getrag to get rebuilt or replaced by them. anywayz, hth, joshua Quote
