GutlessSupreme
Do any old Saturns have any relation to our cars? Such any of the old SLs? (SL, SL1, SL2...) Just looking at bits of them they appear to resemble W bodies some what.. probably just corporate GM part usage though. Has Saturn always been owned by GM? DaveFromColorado
saturn has always been partially owned by GM - there isn't really anything that's transferable between the two (saturns to w-body's) --Dave.
DiscoStudd
Saturn has always been a wholly-owned subsidiary of GM right from the start. You might be able to swap radios and possibly alternators, but nothing else is the same. GM didn't use any "parts bin" parts on the early Saturns. All the engines, suspensions, platforms, etc. were unique to Saturn. The General wanted to take customers away from Honda and Toyota (think they succeded there? ) and therefore didn't want Saturns to be anything like other GM's. Just recently GM started using their global platforms to underpin the Saturns. The Ion is on the same platform as the new Chevy Cobalt, the L Series is on the same platform as the Chevy Malibu, Pontiac G6, and Saab 9-3, and the Vue shares a platform with the Chevy Equinox (and the replacement for the Asstek.) The Ion even shares an engine with the Cobalt!
