Guest TurboSedan
well the other night i was delivering pizza and the PS started to get really noisy, and i discovered it was leaking fluid pretty bad. i stopped driving it right away and finished my shift in a co-worker's '97 Jetta. the next day i got under the car and discovered the high pressure line had a pinhole leak, so i pulled it out and bought a new one today from Checker ($32). when i removed the line, i discovered that where the line goes into the pump it is stripped out. it's not the pump body itself that is stripped....i can actually take the stripped fitting out of the pump with a 22mm socket. does anyone know if/where i can get this fitting? what is this part called? i think the guy at NAPA called it a regulator or something? after i took the 'fitting' out of the pump i could see what looked like a small piston inside. the high pressure line threads right into it on the other side. does anyone have this part? i REALLY need one! is this part available without buying a new pump? Guest TurboSedan
one more question: if i end up buying a new PS pump how do i swap the pulley? :?
Guest Anonymous
I can try to get one from one of my GP's for you. To change the pulley you need a PS pump pulley puller.
god910
The puller is a pretty cheap generic puller. Could be had for $15-20 and Since you own a W, you'll use it more than once. I know where to get the fitting, buy a new pump, remove it and take it back. Tell them you didn't need it after all. BOOYAH. Auto Parts Store Carma. Working in your favor. Guest TurboSedan
i thought about doing that seriously in the end i just bought a salvage yard pump and a new HP line. works great now if i bought a new pump i would have had to buy a puller too. that would have been $60 for the pump and another $25 for the puller (at Checker). i got a pump from a '90 Cutlass in the salvage yard for $25...didn't have to do anything with the pulley at all and it went right in.
