5speedz34 Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Ok, so I did plugs and wires on my friends '93 Cutty 3.1. We put in rapidfires and bosch wires . To make sure I had the right wires I measured the lengths of the new ones against the old ones. Ne ways now it idles at like 500-600, in park its ok, but in gear it idles at like 400 and its rough alot, enough to make the dash shake, it doesn't missfire just has a rough idle. We also put on new FFP dogbones so idk if that has ne thing to do with it. Thanx in advance -Tony Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Those DB's will rattle your teeth when new. Give them time to wear in and the roughness should smooth out. Quote
5speedz34 Posted June 7, 2004 Author Report Posted June 7, 2004 Well doesn't that idle sound kinda low? I mean it's way worse in gear, and I'm sure the lower mounts need to be replaced since the car has like 160k on it. -Tony Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Is it running rich or lean? Got the plugs gapped correctly? Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Stock tach's are rarely ever real accurate. It could be reading 100-200 low. And when you put it in gear the rpm's will drop. Did you have the battery unhooked? Might need an idle re-learn. Quote
5speedz34 Posted June 7, 2004 Author Report Posted June 7, 2004 Is it running rich or lean? Got the plugs gapped correctly? Yeah the plugs are gapped correctly, I dont think its running rich or lean. Did you have the battery unhooked? Might need an idle re-learn. Yeah, we unhooked the battery and I thought that could be it but the fact, that its ran 3 days w.o a relearn I'm thinking it should've already learned the idle. -Tony Quote
