96_9C3Lumina Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 I want to take the paint down to bare metal and do all the body work myself and I want to prime it to save $$ on the final paint job. Whats the best way to get it down to bare metal and plastic for the bumpers? What color primer should I use for the color I'm painting it? ( I decided on dark blue metallic) Is there any considerations in the entire process that I should be aware of? Any help with this would be greatly be appreciated. Quote
90TGP Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 I'm no paint expert, but a lot of people on http://www.v6z24.com have prepped their own cars. I'm sure they can help you out Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Why do you want to take the whole car down to bare metal? Just sand all the main (good) areas down good with 400 grit paper and the new paint will stick to it good. If you have rust or bad areas, then by all means sand down to bare metal. Quote
