99RegalGS
Tonight I wanted to take off my right rear strut and I thought that the car could live with out it for a day or so. Well that changed once I started to jack up my car. :x  :x Turns out the strut holds the tire upright.

This is my first time dealing with the rear suspention and I'm not familiar with it.

Brian P
nah the trailing arm can survive the length of suspension travel....well to a point! lol Now you know strut = structural support
per0781
Aw yes I know that quite well. Nothing like the strut falling out of the upper strut mount from hitting a pothole. My rusty trailer arm didn't bend.
GP1138
Don't get me started on suspension travel. Though my problems were all in the front, dealing with the balljoint and things of that nature. God that was a bitch and a half, until I unbolted the sway bar. :gone2far:
digitaloutsider
Yay! your back wheel looks like my front ones!
GnatGoSplat
Yeah, that's why it's NOT a SHOCK. Some people (junkyard guys) think just because it doesn't have a coil spring around it, it must be a shock. But a shock doesn't affect suspension geometry and a car can actually drive without it. A strut like Brian says is a structural support. It is required to be there for proper suspension geometry and is more than just a damper. 99RegalGS
Now you know strut = structural support Yes I do. I modified my first post to reflect that. Yay! your back wheel looks like my front ones! Sweet. Those are good tires. Good news it's all fixed now.
