maybe2fast Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 Alright I have completed the project I have been planning on for a long time (I still need to hook up the DIC) any ways Check this out They are off the 1990 STE I got the DIC from! Paint them white or red and I am all set! Quote
Dirty Rockstar Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 Way to steal my idea! LMAO.. Just makes me want to do that even more when I get my Z bumper! Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 Thats cool. Gotta get some sort of matching bumpers though.. Quote
EurosportZ34 Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 Huh...they actually don't look that bad! Do you have a side shot of the entire car? Isn't the side skirt lower than the front/rear bumpers now? Just a thought that I was thinking when I did mine... Quote
maybe2fast Posted May 29, 2004 Author Report Posted May 29, 2004 the skirts don't add that much to the profile to need anything on the front and rear. I f anything it finishes the profile because the Euro has a lower front and rear bumper. They look good! Quote
Baddflash Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 Atleast now I know how they'll look when I put them on the car, LOL! It seems pretty hard to have an original idea these days. Quote
Dirty Rockstar Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 No kiddin, BaddFlash.. I've had the GP Side skirt idea since I bought the car! lmao.. At least it looks good, and it DOES makethe car look better Quote
RareGMFan Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 They are off the 1990 STE I got the DIC from! Not to veer off too much, but they didn't make an STE in '90, and the only STEs that got side skirts were the AWDs in either blue or red in '89, or silver in '88 (<--only 124 made of those, so I doubt it was that). Did you perhaps mean the S/E? Those came standard with the side skirts from '87-'90. Quote

RareGMFan Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 I think he meant 1990 Grand Prix STE *Smacks his head* Jesus freaking Christ. I was just on the A-body board before I made that post. Sorry  I REALLY need to get more sleep. Quote
Z34door Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 do they have to be STE ones or do SE's have the same sideskirts? Quote
RareGMFan Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 Those same side skirts can be found on lots of GP sedans as well as some coupes. As long as it's not a B4U package, they're all the same side pieces. Quote
Baddflash Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 They're actually on the car now, I was just waiting for a dry day to do it. They look pretty good with the z34 bumpers not perfect but either way it's a great improvement and only cost me $15. A couple things maybe2fast, Did you have to cut like 1/2" off the front piece of the skirt? Did the front upper screw on the main skirt pretty well line right up with with the fender/door gap? Quote
maybe2fast Posted June 1, 2004 Author Report Posted June 1, 2004 heres the deal the rear end of the skirt is just a hair to long and hangs over just allittle (just use a long screw and you will be golden). The fender well molding did have to be cut to accomidate the skirts. I didn't cut anything they are a great fit make sure to use the clips off the donor car. Quote
Baddflash Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 I installed the clips and the rear skirt flush at wheel well, then I had to cut off like a 1/2" from both front pieces for them to sit flush. I don't have any wheel moldings so maybe they take up the difference, I thought they should have fit. Either way they're on and look great, the car would be ready to paint if I didn't plan on changing all the doors. Quote
maybe2fast Posted June 6, 2004 Author Report Posted June 6, 2004 I got the skirts painted and I put a bow tie emblem at the rear of the skirt they look awesome Quote

slick Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Those do look really really good! I like the bowtie in the back of the skirt. Are they flush with the body? Quote
maybe2fast Posted June 7, 2004 Author Report Posted June 7, 2004 the emblems are dome emblem body stickers Quote
