Mine went right through and was banging on the rear deck speaker mount, (The steel plate the speakers mount to.) Mine went while on a washboard gravel road. I ended up jacking up the car and placing a block of wood over the rod. I drilled a beveled hole in the wood for the rod to sit into to keep it in place. (not all the way though the wood.)
