Guest RedCutlassSL
An object got stuck in my #1 cooling fan. I pulled it out and the fan wasn't turning when it should. I spun it by hand and then the motor kicked in. Well then the relay blew and and smoke started to pour out of the fan motor and that was it. Well I replaced the relay, tested the old motor, it appears to be shot, and I installed a new motor. I still can't get that cooling fan to kick in. I pulled the temp senser under the throttle body because I was told if you unplug that the fans will kick in no matter what. So does anyone have any idea what I should do? The wires appears fine. I tested the circuit with a light and I couldn't get it to light. I was thinking of maybe just manually wiring it, but I don't really want to do that. A new Focus hatchback is starting to sound nice.... Please help!

Slade901
What happens if you connect the fan directly to the battery, does it turn on?
Guest RedCutlassSL
I did plug the temp sensor back in, I unplugged it to test it. I test the old motor, it appeared burnt out, and the brand new one I installed wasn't turning either.
ShockTherapy
if your car's OBD1, do the paperclip in the ALDL trick. when you do that to check codes, the cooling fans kick in. i did that in traffic all the time with the regal, the temp needle never went above 200. hope this helps
topless94style
I have a couple fans if ya want em. Try hooking the new motor directly up to the battery to see if that gets it to spin. If it does, youll have to follow the wires back from the fan to figure out what the problem is.

THe_DeTAiL3R
yes, but what pin to do i stick the paperclip into? As long as yours is OBDI, there are 2 pins that are next to each other.. no others. http://www.mymonte.com/redfox340.tripod.com/wbodyperformance/id12.html If you look on that pic (I think it may be upside down) its the 2 pins bottem left.
