Cornerdealy Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 ok i'm giving it a try now, wish me luck, cause i dont have any spare fuses Quote
cutty Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 good luck, and try not to blue to many fuses Quote
1RedGP Posted May 27, 2004 Author Report Posted May 27, 2004 Let me know how it worked out for you. Quote
Cornerdealy Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 w00t! It worked perfectly. At first I accidentally hooked it up to #86 and blew a fuse, so i had to go to an auto parts store to buy replacements. Got back, hooked up one 35amp switch (heavy duty one, it was all they had) to #85 on fan 1 through 16 gauge wire and it works perfectly. I'm guessing you were having the problem because you hooked two up to one switch. Now my next problem. I only hooked this switch up to test it out, now I need to find an existing hole in the firewall so i can run the wires inside the cabin of the car. Quote
cutty Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 there should be one right below the master cylinder, theres a rubber groment there all i did was cut a hole in the rubber groment, and the wires will come thru right above the brake pedal Quote
Cornerdealy Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 hmm i couldn't even see under the master cylinder, do i lift the car up on jacks and get under there? How accessable was it? Quote
cutty Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 no u dont need to car the car up, what engine do u have, mines 3100sfi, and u mite need a flash light to see it, since its pretty dark down there Quote
Cornerdealy Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 yeah i have the 3100 also. Is there anyway you can get a pic or something? Or atleast give me some more detail on how to find it. BTW I really appreciate you helping me like this. Quote
1RedGP Posted May 27, 2004 Author Report Posted May 27, 2004 I eliminated one fan and now its working great. I can switch them on and off with the car on/off now. Weird how that all worked out. Maybe I'll hook up the 2nd fan sometime. Quote
Cornerdealy Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 1redgp, do you run the wires inside the car? How did you get through the firewall? Quote
1RedGP Posted May 27, 2004 Author Report Posted May 27, 2004 I have yet to do that yet... I have them running under the fender and through the door into the dash. This is temporary until I have more time to get it "right". It can't be that hard running wires through the firewall, but I'm sure it's not easy either. Quote
Cornerdealy Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 cutty, I looked all over around the master cylinder and i couldn't find any grommet at all. Quote
Cornerdealy Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 w00t just got them both inside the car and now all i have to do is mount the switches, (i wired both fans) which i'll do tommorow, the mosquitos were eating me alive out there. Quote
cutty Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 ok so u found the groment in the the firewall, that is below, i forgot to say below the master cylinder Quote
Cornerdealy Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 yeah lol i was looking in the wrong place the whole time. When i found it i was like 'duh!' Quote
cutty Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 ok good you found it, and glad to help you anyway i can Quote
Cornerdealy Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Ok, this sucks. I put the switches in and was testing to see how they worked when i got the Service Engine Soon light. Quote
1RedGP Posted May 29, 2004 Author Report Posted May 29, 2004 can you get both fans to run with the ignition off??? Quote
Cornerdealy Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 no only fan 1 runs with ignition off, that's the way it's wired i guess. Quote
cutty Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 yeah its very stupid but yes only one fan runs with the ignition off, and i dunno why, but stupid indeed, and thats very strange that you got an SES light Quote
Cornerdealy Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 well the SES light went off today, so i'm not gonna worry about it. Quote
