skiiirt
Well... finally I will have my cutty back. She just came down from the lift and after some work my mechanic finally got her started and she purrs like a cat in heat. I can pick it up tomorrow. What distance do you guys recommend I travel on this rebuilt engine before I start letting her loose? Any precautions I should take with this re-built engine? I can't wait to re-enter the driving force as an oldsmobile owner once again
phantomshado
I'd say that the standard engine break in rules apply. Change oil with regular oil after 500 and then 1000 miles, then I'd go, staged mind you, into a full synthetic. Drive it under a lot of different stresses, lightly, wot, just don't be real hard on it.
DaveFromColorado
I always run mobile one from the very first starting of the engine, till the day I sell the car. make sure while you're still in your brake in period, and after the engine has been running for a good 30 or so minutes of highway driving, that you take her up to redline a couple times, people say this is bad, but what it will do is raise your ringlands, and keep the possability of oil burning later in life to a minimum. --Dave.
