SantaCruzTGP
Does the coolant need to be emptied in order for the thermostat to be replaced? I just had a full system flush a few weeks ago, I don't want to do it again if I don't have to. Thanks in advance. -Jeromy
TGPilot
You just need to let a little bit out of the radiator so you don't flood the top of your engine with coolant. You will still have a little come out of the T-stat housing and hose...but not so much if you drain a little. I would say about 2" from the top of the filler neck of the radiator will save you. Make sure you use a clean drain pan and just put back what you drain out... 8)

SantaCruzTGP
There wasn't a need to empty any coolant out. The Elbow came off just fine without any leaking. The level was just at the tstat level. All cool and the gang!
